Venture Churches Food Pantry

Open Tuesdays 9:30-11:30 am and 5:00-7:00 pm

Located at:  First Reformed Church of Bethlehem, 38 Church Road (off of Rt. 9W), Selkirk, NY

We are four local churches that have been serving people in our community for over 30 years.  This ministry comes out of our faith and belief in helping fellow people in need.  We recognize each individual has unique needs.  We treat people with respect, dignity, compassion, kindness and without judgment or discrimination.  We provide a bridge to a variety of resources and cooperate with area businesses and other local food pantries.

If you are interested in volunteering at the Food Pantry or are in need of our services, please call the church office (518) 767-2243 Mon. to Fri. from 9:00 am-1:00 pm.

Venture Churches Food Pantry continues to provide emergency and supplemental food assistance to our food insecure neighbors. Our clients are often people with health challenges or families now described as ALICE--Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. The demand on the pantry has remained steady over the last year. We serve over 40 local families (around 150 individuals) on a monthly basis and up to 70 families (around 225 persons) on special occasions such as Thanksgiving.

About 25% of our clientele are over 60 years of age. The Pantry is open one day a week for two sessions in the morning and evening. Volunteers are also on call to serve families with emergency food needs by private appointment. The pantry is set up so that clients shop for their own food. We are one of the few pantries in the area with an evening session which is particularly important for our employed clients. We are in the process of obtaining funding to make the church basement more accessible by adding a stairlift to the food pantry entry. We want to thank the congregations that support us, because without your aid we could not meet this very real and pressing need for food in the southern half of the town of Bethlehem.
